Buddhadev Dasgupta

Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta is recognised worldwide as one of the finest masters of the sarod. Born in 1933 in Bhagalpur, he started his music training under the guidance of Pandit Radhika Mohan Maitra. A veteran performer in major musical and cultural festivals, rich honours have come his way including the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award in 2012 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Tagore Akademi Ratna in 2011. An accomplished teacher, he has yielded students of the highest order. Dasgupta has been a Guru of ITC Sangeet Research Academy’s Instrumental Division since 2002 and is a member of the Experts Committee.
