Bengal Classical Music Fest at Abahani playground this year
The Bengal Foundation has finally been granted permission to organise the 6th edition of its Classical Music Festival, at Abahani Limited’s playground in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi. The five-day event will commence on December 26. Bengal Foundation Chairman Abul Khair Litu told the press on Tuesday that most of the invited artists and musicians from the Indian subcontinent had confirmed that they would attend the event. He added that they had considered using Mirpur Indoor Stadium for the Classical Music Festival, and the finance minister had been supportive of their request, but they eventually switched the venue to Abahani playground on account of the cricket season. Previously, at a press conference on October 22, Bengal Foundation Chairman Abul Khair said the Army Stadium, where the previous five iterations of the festival took place, had not been allotted for the event due to security concerns.
